Mission and objectives:
Since its opening in 2004, the primary mandate of the fixed Trac site has been to provide sterile equipment in order to prevent sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI) and to reduce the harms associated with the misuse of drugs. and unprotected sex. Our mission also consists of:
- providing direct assistance to people living in difficult situations;
- encourage autonomy by acquiring and maintaining a quality of life;
- promote responsible attitudes and behaviors with regard to their living situation;
- make community and institutional resources accessible to people who are in the process of social disruption.
The Harm Reduction Center offers:
- a place where the person is welcomed, listened to, accompanied, informed and referred according to their needs.
- sterile injection and prevention equipment (syringes, condoms, water ampoules, alcohol swabs, crack pipes, tips, filters, lubricants, collection bins, etc.) and collect the used syringes;
- information and documentation;
- psychosocial support;
- personalized referrals to appropriate resources: street workers, CLSCs, hospitals, detoxification centers, therapy houses and community organizations, etc.
